A little about me…

Mona Celest Majid is an American soprano with Iraqi and Iranian heritage and a graduate of the Longy School of Music. A student of Dr. Dana Varga, Mona enjoys performing a variety of musical styles with a particular enjoyment of new works by living composers that tell poignant and culturally relevant stories. While at Longy, Mona collaborated on several new music premieres with composer and fellow student Charlotte Koonce, including a personally-commissioned Persian art song. She performed the role of Le Prince Charmant in Massenet’s Cendrillon, Gertrud in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, and Fifth Actress in the musical revue A…My Name is Alice. Mona lives in Mission Hill with her dear husband and their emotionally needy pet cat.
